Lely Resort runs east off Collier Boulevard on the way to Marco, about 3,000 acres of it, and it is less one community than a dozen arranged around three golf courses. Two of those courses — Flamingo and Mustang — are open to the public, which is rare on this side of Naples. The third, the Classics, is private. The Players Club & Spa, fifteen acres of pools, dining, fitness and tennis on Grand Lely Drive, is a separate membership again. Inside the perimeter sit neighbourhoods that do not resemble one another at all: a Spanish-mission village of attached homes with its own centre, an estate enclave of custom houses, coach-home and villa streets, and a golf resort where weekly rental is allowed. A listing here is sold on which of those it is, before anything else.
Buyers arriving from the bundled-golf communities east of I-75 assume Lely works the same way. It does not. Flamingo and Mustang are public courses, the Classics is private, and the Players Club is a third membership on top. A listing that states which memberships convey, and which are merely available, saves the agent the same phone call twenty times.
Ole, Lakoya, the Classics, Tiger Island and Greenlinks are different products at different prices behind different gates. "Lely Resort" on its own tells a buyer almost nothing, and a set of photographs shot without knowing which one it is gets compared against the wrong homes.
Weekly rental is allowed there, which makes those units an income purchase rather than a home. That buyer wants the course, the pool, the proximity to Marco and the rental story — a different set of photographs from the one an owner-occupier needs, and worth saying at booking.
There is no single gatehouse that covers Lely. Access is arranged against the specific neighbourhood before the appointment, because the guard at one will not have the listing at another on the list.

Lely listings mostly compete with other Lely listings, and the buyer comparing them is trying to work out two things: which neighbourhood this is, and what the fee actually buys. Photography answers the first — Ole looks nothing like Lakoya, and the difference should be obvious by the third frame. The marketing copy has to answer the second, because golf and the Players Club are both available here rather than included.
